Calculation of Antardasha (Apahara or Bhukti)

The Apahara (secondary dasha) period of a Mahadasha (primary dasha) can be easily calculated as:
The period of the lord of dasha
———————————————  x  The dasha period of the planet whose apahara is to be known.
                     120
Examples:
1) To find the apahara (secondary dasha) of Mars during the dasha of Moon
    10                      70
    ——    x   7   = ——     years  =  7 months
    120                  120
2) To find the apahara (secondary dasha) of Rahu during the dasha of Moon
    10                         180
    ——    x   18    =  ——  years  =  1 year and 6 months
    120                       120
3) To find the apahara (secondary dasha) of Saturn during the dasha of Jupiter
    16                           304
    ——    x    19     =  ——  years  =  2 years, 6 months and 12 days
    120                         120

Calculation of Antardasha
Each apahara (secondary dasha) is again divided for the nine planets and it is called Pratyantar Dasha or Antharbhukti (tertiary dasha).

Each tertiary dasha period is again divided for the nine planets and it is called Sukshma bhukti (quaternary dasha). The Sukshma Bhukti, in turn, is divided and this is called Prana Bhukti (quinary dasha). Thus, through such fine subdivisions of periods one can comprehend the smallest changes happening throughout one’s life.
