The lunar Nodes Rahu and Ketu enter Leo and Aquarius respectively on 26th February 2016 where they will remain till 14th September 2017. The occupational effects of the Nodes in different Rasis, are considerable. This applies equally to the assessment of results in both birth charts and in transits .Both Rahu and Ketu are deemed Karmic planets. Rahu gives results similar to those of Saturn and Ketu, of Mars. They can trigger natural calamities and even influence or compel a transformation of the established spiritual beliefs, like clamoring for rights irrespective of caste or creed,perform poojas in temples and the like. It has been seen in the past that Rahu can inflict major changes impacting the political, social and cultural lives of nations, especially of Islamic enclaves.

During this sojourn of Rahu and Ketu in Leo and Aquarius respectively between 26th February 2016 and 14th September 2017, Jupiter will be transiting Leo till 4th July 2016 and then move on to Virgo where he remains during this period except for a fleeting foray into Libra between 19th January 2017 and 24th February 2017, till his final entry into Libra on 4th September 2017. During the same period, Saturn will be in Scorpio till 12th January 2017 when he will move into Sagittarius where he turns retrograde on 7th April 2017 to re-enter Scorpio on 12th July 2017 where he remains till his final entry into Sagittarius on 7th October 2017.

Conventionally Rahu and Ketu are held beneficial while transiting the 3rd, 6th, and 11th Rasis from the natal Moon of an individual. Mantreswara admits the 10th also. As the two Nodes will always be in opposition, Rahu and Ketu can give mutually contradictory results for most of the transits for any Rasi; the only exception being when they are in 1 -7 or 2-8 houses when both of them become unfavorable. During the current transit, only those born in Cancer and Leo Rasi may have to bear the cross. Except for the pairs, the adverse effects of one Node can get neutralized by the beneficial results of the other. Furthermore, when they are subjected to Vedha or check, their effects, good or bad get reduced to some extent. Malefic Rahu and Ketu get a special categorization under the Moorthi Nirnaya scheme which depends on the Rasi position of the Moon on the day the transit occurs and with reference to the Janma Rasi of the native. All these factors,and also the effects of transits of Jupiter and Saturn during the period under discussion, have been taken into account in assessing the results.

According to some texts, Rahu and Ketu give very bad results in the 9th house reckoned from the natal Moon. However, when one of the Nodes goes to the 9th Rasi, which even if deemed unfavorable, the others will be in the 3rd which will be beneficial. Thus this can counter much of the adverse effects attributed to the occupation of any Node of the 9th house reckoned from the natal Moon.

The results given for the transits of the Nodes in Leo and Aquarius are only indicative. These are subject to aggravation dilution, consistent with the influence of the running directions, good or bad, of the natives. They are also subject to modification due to transits of the other planets Mars, Venus, Mercury etc., during the period.
