Putrabhava Afflictions and Medically Assisted Conception

Putrabhava Afflictions and Medically Assisted Conception
The joy of having one’s own progeny is coveted by all but not all are blessed with this gift which has its roots in the Purvapunya acquired in previous births. The 5th house, the 5th lord and Putrakaraka Jupiter are the prime determinants for parenthood. Depending on the severity of affliction to these three factors, one is likely to suffer loss of child or childlessness or children with mental or physical debility or even unworthy children.

Using the Ashtakavarga system, the calculation of the period favorable for a child birth is as follows: Find the product of the Sodya Pinda of Jupiter and 7. Divide it by 27 and find the remainder. Count the remainder from Aswini (if Jupiter is stronger in Navamsa, count from Dhanishta). The period is favorable for child birth when Jupiter transits this Nakshatra. Here, the Sodya Pinda of Jupiter is 174 and the remainder obtained is 3. Since Jupiter is stronger in Navamsa, counting from Dhanishta, the Nakshatra arrived at is Poorvabhadrapada. Jupiter was in Poorvabhadrapada from March to May 2010 and during this period the wife became pregnant with IVF and embryo transfer. Transit Jupiter was in the 11th and Saturn in the 6th both being favorable transits. The delivery took place in the 7th month. The baby girl was under-developed and was under intensive care for two months. Even now, the baby is under-developed which is a cause of worry to the parents.

She got married in 2007 and conceived during October 2009 with some medical assistance. Chart 4 belongs to a salesman by profession working abroad and who got married in 2002 but did not get a baby till 2008. His wife suffered two miscarriages during this period. There are many malefic combinations related to Putrabhava in this chart.
  1. The 5th is occupied by debilitated Sun, 6th lord Mars and Mandi.

  5. Putrakaraka Jupiter is afflicted by Rahu.
With his wife taking medical assistance, a baby boy was born during October 2008 in the Bhukti of Putrakaraka Jupiter (who is in the Nakshatra of 5th lord Venus) in the Dasa of 9th lord Saturn. The child is a slow learner and is detected to suffer from autism and the parents are worried about him.
It is evident that the loss of child or sorrow on account of progeny is not accidental, but hidden in the birth charts. In spite of a number of adverse Yogas, birth of an issue is possible in most of the cases by selecting an astrologically appropriate period and modern medical support. However, with many adverse combinations related to Putrabhava if the native gets children, the possibility for loss of child or sorrow on account of the child cannot be ruled out.
