Medical Astrology

The orientation of cosmic bodies can inflict changes in nature. Like the climatic fluctuations and ‘low tide and high tide’ which we see and experience, the planets can influence our health and thoughts too. The planetary positions in horoscope also suggest the possible ill health that befalls an individual. Specific diseases or physical harm can be a result of certain combinations in horoscope chart.
In the concept of Kala Purusha (Cosmic Man) in Vedic Astrology, the 12 houses (zodiacs) represent 12 different parts of human body. When an astrologer knows and applies the concept of Kala Purusha, while reading a horoscope, he can make predictions on the individual’s health and possible ailments. The following chart explains the concept of Kala Purusha – the 12 zodiacs and the parts of body they represent.

Planets play a crucial role in determining or predicting the diseases. In Vedic Astrology the word ‘Greha’ (planet) means ‘celestial phenomena influencing the terrestrial events’. Accordingly, any celestial phenomena which affect the life, thoughts, health and feelings of humans can be considered as a planet. Each planet is regarded as a set of norms affecting the life and behavior of individuals. When these Greha (planets) and other cosmic energy centres traverse along the space, the norms which they represent reflect on the individuals’ lives. Astrology, through a set of principles, answers how and when these cosmic phenomena affect the life of humans and horoscope is the tool that explains the inter-relation of an individual with cosmic forces. Using horoscope as the base, an astrologer can predict how and when the norms relevant to the planets happen in individual’s life.
Among the four components of horoscope – Rasi (Houses), Greha (Planets), Bhava and Nakshatra (Stars), planets have the most important role in determining the diseases befalling the individual. These planets, while traversing through space works in synergy with rasis, bhavas and stars, and inflict specific diseases or health issues at specific times. Having a prior understanding of these possible ailments, helps the individual in taking preventive measures. The person can have timely consultation with the doctor or take remedies recommended in astrology.
